SPOTLIGHT: Leasiah Beth Makor

       

Leasiah Beth Makor is an upcoming Liberian fashion designer. Before relocating to the United States, Beth lived in Tappita Town, and Monrovia. She currently lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Beth is studying for her  undergraduate degree in exercise science at Shippensburg University, and is expected to have her degree in May of 2011.
        At the early age of seven, Beth knew she wanted to become a fashion designer. She was inspired by a local handicap tailor in Liberia. Years later, Beth's dream is finally becoming a reality. Since 2005, Beth has  put in tremendous amount of work to make her dream come through. Beth's clothing Afrik-Stai is aimed to empower women in  a chic,elegant, and sexy way. It is designed to show the beauty of a woman's body.
      Beth's accomplishments include the YesLiberia fashion show; where her designs were showcased. The African Student Association of Shippensburg annual fashion show where I had the opportunity to wear one of her garments. Lastly, the Statewide annual fashion show.
       For anyone out there interested in becoming a fashion designer Beth has advice for you." Follow your dreams no matter what" , "Have Determination",and "Perseverance is key". Beth has several plans for Liberia. She wants to open a mall in Liberia which will feature a store with her clothing line, and many other stores. Beth also plan on creating a television show called " Liberia's Next Top Designer". With the show she can provide an opportunity for Liberians in Liberia to showcase their talent, and make their dreams  a reality.
